personal branding

My Japanese name, Kakeru (翔), has been with me for many years and even forms part of my personal signature. While I considered using the kanji on its own, it never felt quite right. As I'm not Japanese, I wanted to avoid presenting it as a purely traditional character, and because it is also commonly read as the name Sho, I felt it lacked a sense of individuality.

After many attempts over the years, I decided to approach it differently by blending Eastern and Western influences. Inspired by my fascination with writing systems and symbols, I created a mark that combines the structure of the kanji with forms reminiscent of Scandinavian runes. The result feels far more personal—reflecting both my long connection to the name and my appreciation for the visual language of scripts. Paired with my favourite shades of green, it has become a brand identity that feels authentically my own.
